David Nelson, WR, Buffalo Bills (Undrafted)
Nelson, an undrafted rookie coming out of Florida in 2010 made some nice plays in his rookie year but was not a consistent target. So far in 2011, Nelson has played a big part in the resurgence of the Buffalo Bills. Last week he caught four balls for 66 yards and this week played a huge role in a great win over the Raiders with 10 catches for 83 yards and a touchdown in the dying seconds to give his team the lead and eventually a win to give them a 2-0 record.
Ben Tate, RB, Houston Texans (58th Overall Pick)
The big news this week was the return of Arian Foster. Tate was not expected to make too big an impact but when Foster aggravated his injury, Tate again was asked to fill in and stepped up to the plate to give his team a consistent run attack with 103 yards on 23 carries and 4 receptions for 32 yards. Foster may be out for more games so Tate get his chance to show his potential and skills.
Colt McCoy, QB, Cleveland Browns (85th Overall Pick)
Browns may have finally found their man at QB. McCoy came off a disappointing team performance last week as they lost to the Bengals. This week was a different story against the Colts as McCoy led the team with 211 yards and a touchdown with a 68.8% completion rate. McCoy and the Browns still have a lot to build on and look for McCoy and his young receivers to improve throughout the season.
Rob Gronkowski, TE, New England Patriots (42nd Overall Pick)
Part of an amazing pass attack, Gronkowski was able to haul in 2 touchdowns on 4 receptions for 86 yards. Last week Gronkowski was close to being a top performer but was slightly outshined by fellow sophomore, Aaron Hernandez who suffered an injury and could miss a few games. Gronkowski will be an even bigger target now for Brady and an already consistent performer could see some huge numbers in the next couple of weeks.
Eric Decker, WR, Denver Broncos (87th Overall Pick)
Last week Decker stepped up in the return game and offered some relief for QB Kyle Orton in the passing game. This week he was the top target for Orton and may have cemented his spot as a starter for the Broncos. Decker had a rough start to the game, fumbling after a 15 yard gain but he made up for it with a game total of 5 catches for 113 yards and 2 touchdowns. With the Broncos depth at receiver taking a hit with injuries to Royal, Lloyd and Thomas, watch for Decker to be the top target and build up on his success from the first two games.
